Edward Nisstey’s prize-winning entry in the annual 4-H Strawberry Roundup sponsored by the Lancaster Rotary Club. Stoner, a veteran strawberry Lancaster Rotary Club members paid handsomely for the privilege of eating some of Lancaster County’s finest strawberries on Wednesday. The occasion was" the annual 4-H Strawberry Roundup, sponsored by the Rotary Club and won this year by J. Edward Nissley. Mt. Joy auctioneer Harold Keller presuaded Rotarian James R. Wohlsen that $l2 was a reasonable price for a single quart of Eddie’s prize winning berries. Wholsen, 1533 Quarry Lane, is a local building contractor. The $l2 figure was the highest ever paid at the roundup for a quart of strawberries. The 11-year-old winner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Nissley, Manheim RDS, and a member of the Elm- Penryn Club. He went home - from the roundup some $4O richer, collecting $5 in prize money for his- berries, another. $5 for his first place record book, plus a $5 award from the Rotary. Richard and his sister, Mary, demonstrated for the Rotaiians their methods of selecting berries for exhibition. Mary Yunginger placed fourth in the com petition. Other entrants were Dean Risser, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. .Risser, Ephrata, RDI; Glenn Shenk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Shenk, Lititz RD2, and James Stauffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Stauffer, 345 Weaver Rd., Lancaster.
