In testimony before the U.S. House and Senate subcommittees investigating the needs for additional agricultural research funds, ASA said a relatively small investment in soybean research can result in benefits to consumers and fanners. “By making a small in vestment in soybean research relative to the total importance of soybeans to the U.S., we can increase productivity, improve the standard of living throughout the world and improve our balance of payments,” said Nick Rose, ASA spokesman. The Agricultural Research Service is requesting Congress appropriate an additional $1.4 million for soybean research.
