Ken accompanied Ivan R. Yost and his wife of Christiana, Penna., who was named Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Young Farmer at the Jaycees State Board Meeting on February 2nd, 1974 at King of Prussia, Pa. Mr. Yost, along with all nominees, will also receive a large appliance of his choice from Frigidaire. The top four Outstanding Yoilng Farmers in the E-Town Young Farmers Organization Meeting Don Hershey was with the club on March 28 and ex plained how the Young Farmers Association works and explained why it has been successful in Manheim. A slide series about the State Association was shown illustrating the many ac tivities of the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association and the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Foundation, which is made up of a group of Agribusinessmen that help support the Association. After discussing the Association at length it was unanimously decided that we should start a local chapter. Temporary officers were country were: Gary Muller, age 29 from lowa, William Sprague, age 35, from Kentucky, Bryan Hofen age 35, from Nevado, and Floyd Stokes, age 35 from Texas. This Congress was represented by 44 states. Forums and debates on agricultural problems throughout the country were held which were quite in formative and interesting. Key speaker for the event was Congressman Litton from lowa, former owner of Litton’s Charleis Ranch, elected as follows: Ken Myer, chairman; Larry Garber, secretary; and Dale Hiestand, treasurer. Dues were set at $3.00 per member a year of which $2.00 goes toward membership in the state association, and $l.OO will be used locally for contests and other projects.
