(V" 2.2 x 365 days of driving pleasure Farm Women g; : : : Societies Society 2 Farm Women Society 2 held their regular monthly meeting and Christmas Party Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Mastersonville fire hall. The meeting was opened by singing “Away in a Manger” and Mrs Betty Geib presented the devotions. The president, Mrs. Jay Wit mer had charge of the business meeting. Final plans were made for the cookie sale to be held Friday, Dec. 14 in front of the Silco Store in Manheim. Delegates were appointed to the State Convention in Harrisburg Jan. 7 and 8, 1974. They are: Mrs. Mae Donough, Mrs Mable Pinkerton and Mrs. Jay Witmer. Alternates are: Mrs. Abram Brandt and Mrs. Blodwyn Brandt. A covered dish luncheon was held at noon. The members brought groceries and fruit to pack boxes for needy families and also plates of fruit and cookies for shut-ins. They also brought 31 pairs of mittens to be given to un derprivileged children and sent a gift of money to support a child in Korea The members of Societies 2 and 3 will entertain guests at Conestoga View on Thursday, mXH. Jan. 17, 1974. During the singing of Jingle Bells, Santa arrived and distributed gifts and oranges to the 28 members and children present The next meeting will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at the home of Mrs. Warren Kline, 109 Fruitville Pike, Manheim. Society 8 Farm Women Society 8 met at the Heisey Lodge, Rheems on Dec. Bth. Thirty members and one visitor enjoyed seeing the original Christmas decorations which Mrs W. Scott Heisey had created. Dorothy led the group in the singing of the joyous traditional carols of the season. Miss Anna Mae Eby presided over the meeting. Roll Call was an expression from each one as to what Christmas means to her. An original reading was given by Miss Mary Grace Martin called, “The Legend of the Carol”. Mrs. George Houseal read Christmas thoughts and portions for the devotional time. Reports by treasurer Mrs. Sylvester Shuman, the Minutes by Miss Martin and Sunshine Committee report by Mrs. Clarence Greider were given. Mrs. Galen Benner served as co-hostess. “What I really want for Christ mas” was answered for roll call by 27 members and four guests The Society voted to donate $25 to Goodwill Industries. The members donated 50 pairs of mittens for the Lancaster County Extension Service Christmas Party. The Ways and Means Com mittee conducted a bakeless bake sale as a money raising project. President Mrs. Albert Fry, Jr , installed the following officers; vice-president - Mrs. Luke Brubaker, corresponding secretary - Mrs. Harold B. Frey, treasurer - Mrs. Robert Fellenbaum. Mrs. Martin Kready conducted a workshop making marble candle-holders and Mrs Harold Gerber conducted a workshop making rosebud candle-holders. Each member made a can dleholder of her choice. The delegates for State Con vention are Mrs.. Albert Fry, Jr., Mrs. Herbert B. Frey, Mrs. Larry Miller, and Mrs. C. Witmer Sherer. The next meeting will be January 22 at the Norlanco Health Center. Society 25 Farm Women Society 25 met at the home of Mrs. Glenn Nauman on Saturday evening December S, for the family Christmas party (covered dish supper). Members brought mittens for Lancaster County Extension Service Christmas party. Mrs. Chester Eshleman, Mrs. Sterling Elmer and Mrs. Glenn Nauman will be delegates to the Farm Women’s State Convention in Harrisburg. Next meeting January 12, members will be leaving from Willow Street Community Building at 1:00 p.m. to visit the Welsh Mountain Clinic, New Holland, RD2. Calendar Monday, December 17 7-00 p.m. - Farm Women Society 29, meeting at the home of Dorothy Forry. Each member is to bring a dozen cookies. 7:30 p.m. - Farm Women Society 31 meeting.
