24—Lancaster Farming, Satruday, December 8, 1973 Farm Women Societies Society 1 The Society of Farm Women 1 met at the home of Mrs. Paul Kurtz Saturday afternoon. Twenty-two members were present and answered roll call by giving the name of their favorite Christmas song. Mrs. Kurtz presented the devotions and Mrs. Daniel Brubaker served as song leader. During the business meeting conducted by Mrs. Kurtz, president, the women voted to donate $25 to Teen Challenge. Mrs. Kurtz announced that the State convention will be held at Harrisburg Jan 7-8. Delegates from Society 1 attending the convention will be: Mrs. Kurtz, Mrs. Brubaker and Mrs. Howard Swarr. Tickets for the convention banquet may be obtained from Mrs. Kurtz. It was announced that an all day sewing meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. J. Clayton Sangrey, Lititz RD2 beginning at 9 a.m Wednesday, January 23, 1974. A covered dish luncheon will be served. Following the business meeting, a gift exchange was held. Three society members presented a program of slides and commentary on recent trips to Europe, Switzerland and London. Presenting the program were: Mrs. Kurtz, Mrs. Roy Brubaker and Mrs. Graybill Hollinger Trooper Romaine Engle, of,the Lancaster State Police Barracks, will be the guest speaker at the next society meeting at the home of Mrs. J. Lloyd Sheaffer, 326 S. Broad St, Lititz at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5. Trooper Engle’s topic will be “Lady Beware ” Society 4 Farm Women Society 4 met recently m the United Church of Christ Social Rooms, Mountville, Pa. Mrs Mary Shellenberger and Mrs Edna Shellenberger were hostesses Mrs Marian Kauffman had devotions which included a reading, “Thanksgiving Day” by Peter Marshall Mrs. Hazel Reist, Vice President, presided at the meeting Roll call “A Place I would Like Jo Visit” was an swered by 29 members. Mrs. Mollie Schroll, assisted by her husband, showed slides and lectured on their recent trip to Germany, Holland, Bavaria and Italy. The Schrolls had the pleasure to visit their son and family while they were living in Germany and he was serving with the U. S. Air Force. Mrs. Schroll and Mrs. Rhoda Mellinger will represent Society 4 at the State Convention in January. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Mary Greider on December 29th. Society 7 Two new members were in stalled at the last meeting of Farm Women Society 7. They are Mrs. David K. Kauffman, Kinzer RD, and Mrs. Bernard Palmeri, Bachmantown Road, Ronks. December 10 at 2 p.m. will be the Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. Milton Landis. Mrs. Walter Rohrer will demonstrate , quilt making. The roll call is the color of your Christmas tree decorations. There will be an exchange of gifts. ROSEVILLE RD., LANCASTER PH. 393-3921 PennAg Seeks Examples Of Fuel Saving Methods In response to the growing fuel crisis, PennAg Industries Association of Ephrata has asked its state-wide membership to share methods of how agribusiness in Pennsylvania can do its part to conserve energy. In the December issue of its monthly magazine, Grist from the Mill, the organization isi asking its members to supply specific examples of how they have conserved energy. PennAg will then publish the ideas in future issues of Grist from the Mill and also send them to the news media. The le states that “the cumulative effect of such an approach could serve as an example to others and turn a problem into a dedication a dedication which this nation desperately needs right now.” According to Eugene E. Eby, Newport, Penn., PennAg President, the call for help was prompted by members calling the Association headquarters telling of their fuel supplies being cut 20-30 percent and the dire situation they are being put in. “The energy crisis has a very forceful way of pointing out that our society is extremely wasteful of its resources.
