is the theme of Northeastern ’73,
We look for it to be the most spectacular NEPPCO
exposition over which the sun has risen in many
years.
Here’s why. With fluctuating prices . . . uncertain
demand . . . consumerism . . . rising costs . . .
environmentalists and food fads all coming down hard
on the mdustryman, he wants answers. That's where
Northeastern '73 will really shine!

In-depth presentations to give you tomorrow’s short

exports and imports, feed costs, prices . . . plus full
review of the world’s most successful promotional
programs, transportation outlook, inflation, the im

It will be like the good old days in central Pennsyl

we’ve had in many years . . . but with the very latest
in agribusiness products and technology.

vou
voice repeats the 4-H pledge in
clubs around the world.
More than 115,000 strong in
Pennsylvania, the group whose
ages range from eight through 19,
in urban, suburban and rural
homes are observing National 4-
H Club Week, October 7-13.
The 4-H program is a practical,
out-of-classroom educational
activity started 56 years ago.
When 4-H was first started,
members studied projects in
livestock, crops, cooking and
sewing - providing stepping
sones to improve farm and
family living. “Traditional” 4-H
projects continue to grow along
with new interest in areas of arts
and crafts, babysitting,
photography, geology, con
servation, electricity, veterinary
science, dog clubs for guide dog
training and many others
Each 4-H member is involved
in one or more projects for which
he or she alone is responsible
Although members receive
guidance from parents, volunteer
adult leaders, and Extension
staff members, the value of the
finished project is up to the in
dividual.
During National 4-JI Week, our
attention turns to the head-heart
health-hands youth program. The
“learn by doing” concept carried
out in dozens of project areas
illustrates the 4-H way of
preparing youth for tomorrow.
Salute the 3,000 Lancaster County
4-H’ers for their ac
complishments and activities in
“Making the Best Better”
through 4-H Club Work.
Would you believe that every
seventh person in the U.S. has
been affiliated with 4-H at some
time in their life? 4-H alumni
include Pat Nixon, Glen Camp
bell, Roy Rogers, and Don
Meredith plus many prominent
government leaders, educators,
judges, farmers, homemakers,
and musicians.
4-H’ers are from urban,
suburban, and rural areas in
more than 85 countries around
the globe. International mem
bership has passed the five
million mark. What does “4-H”
mean to its five million mem
bers? In the U.S., 4-H’ers pledge
their head, heart, health, and
hands to better their club,
community and world.
This week, October 7-13, 3,000
Lancaster County 4-H members
are celebrating National 4-H
Week, reviewing their ac
complishments. This is your
opportunity to join the
celebration of being a 4-H
member. Contact the Lancaster
County Cooperative Extension
Service, Room 1, Farm and
Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road,
