Register for 1973 Fall Workshops
A selection of fall workshop
topics have been planned by the
Lancaster County Extension
Service, with classes to be filled
on a first-come basis. All classes
will be held in the Extension
Training Center at the Farm and
Home Center. The Workshops,
times and dates, and registration
deadlines are
Beginning Clothing Con
struction -- A series of six classes
for those persons with little or no
sewing experience. Basic fun
damentals taught include using a
sewing machine, choosing
correct pattern size, making
pattern alterations, selecting and
preparing fabric, layout, correct
cutting procedures, and sewing
techniques used in a sleeveless,
collarless garment Classes will
be held from 7 to 9 a.m. October
22, 29, November 5, 12, 19 and 26.

struction -- A scries of six classes
for the individual who has
mastered the basic fundamentals
of sewing. Techniques taught
include those used in con
structing the classic “shirt
look”; when and how to use in
terfacing, simple collar and cuff
construction, how to set a sleeve,
machine and handmade but
tonholes, belts, and working with
plaids Classes will be held from 1
to 3 p m October 8, 15, 22, 29,
November 5 and 12. Cost, $l5.

Cutting to Fit -- A series of eight
classes designed to teach:
altering a basic pattern to fit
individual figure problems to

basic principles of construction
involved in tailoring a

Sewing with Knits - A series of
eight classes presenting the
techniques necessary to achieve

Bit & Bradoon Club
Plans Horse Show
The Bit and Bradoon 4-H Club
president called the meeting to
order. The pledge was recited by
all members and roll was called.
Dues were collected by the
treasurer. Project reports were
said The secretary read the
minutes from the last meeting.
Tim Stauffer read a report.
Money for sponsors for the
Horse Show were discussed and
money was collected. Unfinished
business was last minute
assignments to jobs not taken as
yet, which are gate tenents,
parking advisers, setting up
tables, trash cans. It was decided
that everyone in the club would
clean up.
A meeting was held at Manor
View September 17.
The Horse Show is September
30, beginning at 10 a.m. There are
32 classes.
