In the mor ning dairy and livestock judging contests were held, with each Chapter allowed to have six participants in each contest. In the dairy contest, three classes were judged - Ayrshire cows, senior yearling Holsteins, and two-year old Holsteins - and a set of six questions were an swered on the Ayrshire class. The livestock judging contest featured a class of Duroc breeding gilts, a class of Cheviot breeding ewes, and a class of Angus market steers. Con testants also had to answer at least two questions on each class. The FFA tractor driving contest was held in the afternoon with each Chapter allowed one contestant. The contest featured an obstacle course, two-wheeled event, and four-wheeled event, won by Dale Siegfried, Kutztown RD2, from the Kutztown FFA Chapter. Other contestants in order of their finish were: John Brown, Tulpehocken FFA; Myles Angstadt, Brandywine; Paul Barr, Governor Mifflin; Jake Leiby, Hamburg; Walter Wan ner, Conrad Weiser; Samuel Haas, Oley Valley, and Terry Murray, Twin Valley. In other FFA events, the window exhibits were judged on Tuesday. First place was awarded to Upper Bucks FFA, Upper Bucks County AVTS. The exhibit was entitled “The Egg Factory”. Tri-Valley FFA received second place with their exhibit “Food Prices Are Still a Bargain” Kutztown FFA received third place with their exhibit “Save Good Land for Agriculture”. Other exhibitors in the window exhibits were Conrad Weiser, Twin Valley, Little Dutchman, Northern Lebanon, Lehigh Valley FFA, Western Montgomery FFA, Hamburg FFA, Governor Mifflin, Western Montgomery, Berks County FFA, and Lebanon County FFA. Lancaster Farming:, Saturday, September 1,1973 Fulton Grange Meets Fulton Grange 66 held its regular meeting August 27 at the Grange hall in Oakryn. Clifford Holloway 111 conducted the business session. The Grange decided to buy a new hot air furnace for the large room. An invitation was extended to all Grangers of Lancaster County to attend the centennial program of Kennett Grange 19, Chester County, at 8 p.rtL September 12, at Greenwood Elementary School, near Longwood Gardens. National Grange Master, John W. Scott, will be the principal speaker. State Grange Master, A. Wayne Readinger, will also at tend. It was announced that Penn sylvania State Grange will meet in Reading October 22-25. A banquet to accomodate 600 will be held October 23, Sixth Degree will be conferred October 24 and a centennial pageant will be presented October 25. Nominations for officers for the coming year took place at this meeting. Election of officers will be held at the next meeting, September 10. The theme for the program, presented by the Lecturer, Mrs. J. Stanley Stauffer Jr , was “Old Timers Night.” Many of the older Grange members were in at tendance and the prize for the oldest member present went to Mrs. Mary Sinclair of Drumore.
