Can it be the end of July? When
the children notice the calendar,
they sigh as they realize vacation
is more than half over. I feel like
saying, “What vacation?” Most
of the time we feel so rushed we
don’t find time for the little things
we should do
Somehow we find time to
harvest the beans if we can just
find time to plant them. Or we
find time to go to the dentist or
optometrist if we only take time
to phone for an appointment. And
we find time to give a big lecture
but not a kind word.
In our family we tend to
become involved with too many
activities and be overloaded so
that we don’t enjoy them. Life is
just rush from one thing to
another.

the hay is in the barn and

Long ago people certainly had
a variety of things to stuff their
mattresses. On my attic are bags
of cork chips which my parents
used. My husbands parents had
bags of horsehair which was put
in their mattress.
As a child, I had a chaff bag.
This contained clean straw which
became fine chaff after much
use.
