—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 17, 1973 46 Granges Conducting Sewing Contest A home sewing contest, fastest growing project conducted by the Pennsylvania State Grange, is in progresss for 1973 with a enrollment goal of 1,500 ac cording to A. Wayne Readinger, master. Readinger, said the contest is being directed by Mrs. Ross Metz, Allensville, Women’s Activities chairman and her committee. Enrollment a year ago reached a high of 1,444 from 44 counties. Again, the competition will be open to non-professionals 12 years of age or older, who are grangers or are grange spon sored They will make any type womens garments, dress or suit including pants outfits in one or more of three different classes. Enrollment will remain open until April 30 when an entry for each garment must be filed with the contestants Subordinate Grange Garments will be judged in May at Subordinate and Pomona Grange levels preliminary to State finals m May at the State Grange office in Harrisburg where a state champion in each class and a best-of-show will be selected At nation-wide finals in New York following the state judging, Pennsylvania winners and champions from the other states Schell Elected Elm-Penryn Club President The first meeting of the Elm- Penryn 4-H Club was held last week under the leadership of Mr and Mrs Harold GrUbe, Mrs. Mark Hosier and Carl Nestleroth.
