Rain fell intermittently last Saturday morning during the county-wide FFA tractor driving contest held on the last day of the Ephrata Fair. The weather didn’t seem to bother the drivers, though it sent the judges scurrying for raincoats and umbrellas. Solanco's William Krantzwon the contest despite the fact that he competed during the worst downfall of the morning. William Krantz, on tractor, took top honors at the county wide FFA tractor driving contest last Saturday at the Ephrata fair. Ray Martin of New Holland, was the runnerup. Nine-year-old Robert Bukowski got an unexpected, but very welcome, start in the dairy business on Friday night at the Ephrata Fair. Robert won a Holstein calf which was given away after the dairy cattle contest. The fourth-grade Ephrata Men nonite School student said he plans to exhibit the calf at dairy shows next year.
