35 County 4-H Members to Attend
State 4-H Leadership Congress
Thirty-five Lancaster County 4-
H members will learn specialized
leadership skills and take a look
at current teenage concerns
when they take part in Penn
sylvania 4-H Leadership
Congress June 26-29 on The
Pennsylvania State University
main campus.
The county delegation will join
with about 1,300 other 4-H
members from all counties to
share and contribute ideas
which will improve local com
munity programs. At Congress
they will take part in assemblies,
discussion and interest groups,
and recreational activities.

expanded to include three new
areas of leadership orientation
and development,” said home
economist Joan Lucas. “A
Leadership School for teen
leaders, a State Leaders Forum
for adult leaders, and Extension
Service staff orientation are new
aspects of the program.” The

Maryann Brenneman of Mount
Joy.
Selected teen leaders will at
tend a special school designed to
increase skills to work effectively
in planning and conducting
county youth programs. Topics
include communication skills,
4-H Strawberry Roundup
Slated for Wednesday
The 4-H Strawberry exhibit and
roundup will be held beginning at
10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14 at
the Farm and Home Center.
All members should plan to
bring six boxes of berries for
exhibit and sale. Two of these

A Home Economics County 4-H
member, Debbie Gregory, Lititz,
has been named to serve as a
Leadership Council represen
tative. Debbie Gregory, who
attended 1970’s Congress
Leadership Council delegates
will arrive on the Penn State
campus June 23 for two days of
counseling and orientation to
prepare them for their duties the
remainder of the week.
Speakers at the four-day
conference include Dr. William
M. Smith, Penn State professor of
rural sociology; Dr. Hope
Daughtery, of the U.S. Depart
ment of Agriculture Extension
Service, Washington, D.C.; and
Father Bernard Petrina, of
Bloomsburg State College.
