During the business meeting, in charge of president Mrs. Clarence Stauffer, a donation of $5O was given to LARC, the County project Mrs Jay Miller reported that 33 dozen Cancer pads were completed. Sandwiches will be provided for the USO birthday party May 6. Members will assist the auxiliary of the Ephrata Com munity Hospital at the Lawn Fete in June Rev. Elwood Mehel, pastor of Salem U.C.C., Leola, presented an illustrated lecture There was a plant exchange among members. The table favors were jewel-decorated eggs made by the members under the leadership of Mrs. Ray Weinhold. Twenty-four members will attend the Spring Rally at Seven Springs, Somerset County, May 10. Society 8 Farm Women Society 8 members were entertained at the home of Mrs. Lewis Bixler, Marietta RDI. Mrs Bixler has numerous pieces of antique furniture and dishes, quite unique and different, which were ob served during the visit. She has been working on a large size drawn-through rug on which she is creating her own or iginal design Many interesting articles were seen as the group went from room to room in the quaint farmhouse Thirty-two members and three visitors attended the meeting Devotions were in charge of Mrs Helen Wivell, who read several carefully selected poems SEE ME TODAY! Mary Myers, home economist, assisted by Lilly Ann Kopp, presented a program on the usefulness of small electrical appliances while entertaining. Focusing attention on the electric frypan, she demonstrated the baking of a cake. She also showed making of cole slaw and other tasty foods made in the blender in a matter of minutes. led During the business meeting, Mary Grace Martin read the minutes and Mrs. William Heisey told of the trip to Meyersdale Mapel Syrup Festival in March. Date for the Spring Rally at Seven Springs is May 10. Society 8 members will be entertained by Society 25 members at Conestoga Methodist Church May 13. Members will leave by car from the Mount Joy Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. Mrs. Irwin Cinder is recuperating at home after having had a cataract operation recently. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Lewis Bixler, Mrs. Harold Frey, Mrs. Harold Drager, Mrs. Helen Wivell, Mrs. Harold Ney and Lizzie Keener. Next meeting will be at 2 p.m. May 20 at Musser’s Spring House, Mount Joy RDI. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wolgemuth will show slides from a trip to Liberria. Mrs. Ervin Brown and Mrs. Elsie Wilson will be contributing three dozen sandwiches for the USO birthday party to be held May 6. Trooper Allen D. McNutt was guest speaker for the evening. He presented an informative and interesting talk on drugs. The next meeting will be held May 12 at the home of Mrs. Merrill Miller, 1668 Old Philadelphia Pike. Mrs. Floyd McClenaghan will serve as cohostess. Society 14 Farm Women Society 14 met last week at the home of Mrs. Christian L. Landis, Ronks RDI. Hostesses were Esther Landis, Gladys Esbenshade, Helen Hershey and Celeste Hershey. For devotions, Mrs. Esbenshade used an Easter passage. For roll call, a prospective member was introduced. Miss Marilynn Smart, a missionary to the Phillippines, showed Slides and presented a talk. The next meeting will be a Mother-Daughter banquet at 6:30 p.m. May 11 at the Akron Restaurant.
