Saturday, March 18,1972 €\da' s \ W b °°’ It is so easy to let time slip through our fingers. In writing my daily diary, I find that some days are difficult to recall. If something important has been accomplished such as the washing and ironing completed or some rooms housecleaned or even a trip taken, then remembering is easy. But, let there be a day filled with little jobs, a bit of this and that, with a few phone calls thrown in and a week later you’re not certain what you achieved on that particular day. Yet, who is to say whether the big jobs are the most important; might it not be the little thought ful task for someone else, or the time taken to write a letter or even to listen to someone else’s problem. These little things are the ones which are remembered years later. They add up to a lifetime wisely spent. xxx Jubilation! Our newspapers are gone. Maybe this needs a bit of explaining. I’ve been working with several philanthropic organizations in L. H. Brubaker Lancaster, Pa. Lancaster to arrange a date for disposing of our two year supply of papers. The dealing had been going on for months when I learned that some ecology minded students at our high school would be glad for them. So after many more weeks of waiting, the truck finally arrived for the pick up. You see, we are too far off the beaten path to take advantage of regular paper drives and so we accumulated too many. XXX My little girl often says to me, “Mother, sew, don’t read.” The reason for this request is to allow her to talk to me. She has so many things to ask about and to tell about. I hear what happened in school and what she plans to do this summer and on and on. So I embroider bureau scarves and I haven’t learned to read and listen attentively.
