Grassland Chapter
Nelson E Martin is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Clyde W. Martin, East
Earl RDI
The 18 year old Nelson serves
' as County FFA president. He has
also served the Grassland FFA
Chapter as second secretary,
reporter, and vice president. He
was a delegate to both the State
Convention and the National
Convention.
In other FFA activities, he was
a member of the dairy judging
team at the National Convention
in Kansas City. He has received
the Greenhand degree. Chapter
Farmer degree, and Red Rose
degree. He has served as
chairman of several committees.
Nelson has been a participant in
many County and Area contests.
He was named Star Greenhand
and received the dairy farming
award

Joseph S. Lefever is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Titus H. Lefever,
Manheim RD4. Presently Joe is
serving as president of the
Manheim FFA Chapter and is
sentinel of the County chapter.
His farming program consists
of approximately 50 fattening
hogs, eight sows, three steers and
two acres of field corn.
In 1970 at the Manheim Farm
Show he showed the grand
champion steer as well as the
grand champion trio market
hogs.
On the Chapter level, Joe has
received awards as the Star
Greenhand, Star Crop Farmer
and Star Livestock Producer.
One the State level, he received
silver medals in the land judging
contest and the project book
contest, as well as being winner
in the State one acre corn contest.

Milk Dealers
The Pennsylvania Milk
Marketing Board recently an
nounced that the sales of fluid
milk and milk products reported
by Pennsylvania’s Fluid Milk
Dealers in 1970 were $647 million,
$4 million less than 1969.
The cost of products sold by the
fluid milk dealers was $379
million, 58.66 per cent of the toal
sales, while net profits after
taxes amounted to $9.7 million,
i. 50 per cent of total sales.
Pennsylvania’s Milk
Marketing Law provides that the
Board “shall annually prepare a
summary of the financial
statements of all dealers in each
milk marketing area. Such
summaries shall be a composite
form and shall not include the

Surety and Collateral Bonds,
approved by the Board are
required from milk dealers or
handlers. This provision of the
Milk Marketing Law insures
payments to Pennsylvania milk
producers. Such bonds posted by
licensees during the current
licensing year total $21,249,945.18.
