Farm Women Societies
Society 4
Farm Women Society 4 met
Saturday, November 27 in the
home of Mrs. Richard Wile, 129
East Mam Street, Mountville.
Mrs. Mary Snyder was cohostess,
and Mrs. Wilbur Kauffman led
devotions.
A miscellaneous auction and an
original local color skit by Mrs.
Elmer Schroll were program
features for the meeting.
Doug Adams, grandson of Mrs.
Daniel Will, program chairman,
was auctioneer for the auction
which included original hand
crafted Christmas decorations,
fancy cookies, clothing, jewelry,
paintings and home canned fruits
and vegetables.
Mrs. Robert Garber, president,
conducted the business portion of
the meeting
Information about the State
Farm Women Convention was
presented Banquet reservations
are available from Mrs Cyrus
Gamble, treasurer Mrs. Elmer
Schroll and Mrs Mary Snyder
were named delegates to the
convention, with Mrs John
Melhnger serving as alternate
The next meeting will be held
at 12 30 p m December 29 at the
home of Mrs Robert Brubaker. A
covered dish luncheon and
Christmas party is planned.

Farm Women Society 5 en
tertained their husbands at the
Bird-m-Hand Motor Inn
Restaurant on November 27.
John Henry Hershey of Lititz
entertained by showing pictures
of hunting in Montana with bow
and arrow Mrs. Metora
Hostetter gave a piano recital.
The next meeting will be a
Christmas party to be held at 1:30
p.m. December 18 at the home of
Mrs. Henry Stehman, Manheim
RDI. There will be a gift ex
change.

their November meeting at the

Christmas Seals and six mem
bers volunteered to help with
Toys for Tots
The next meeting will be a
Christmas party at 6:30 p.m.
December 10 to be held in the
West Willow Fire Hall. Husbands
and friends will be guests Each
member is requested to bring
towels for the Boys Club and
dollar gifts for a man and a
woman to be exchanged.

Farm Women Society 10 met
recently at the home of Mrs.
Abram Miller, 1048 West
Roseville Road.
Contributions to the Bureau of
Children’s Services Christmas
Fund for Foster Children and the
Central Christmas Toy Shop were
made
Gifts of money were sent to the
Salvation Army, the Blind
Association, the Water Street
Rescue Mission and Christmas
Seals for the Tuberculosis and
Health Society.
Mrs. Jacob Evans, president, approved the donation of the

The Society project, the selling
of Claxton fruit cakes, a one
pound bar type, will continue
until Christmas They are
available from any member of
Society 10 or at Hodecker’s celery
stand and Shank’s Fruits, both in
Central Market.
A Christmas luncheon will be
held at 12:30 p.m. December 4 at
the home of Mrs. Charles
Stauffer, Lime Spring Farm,
Rohrerstown. There will be a gift
exchange.
Society 21
Farm Women Society 21 held a
“come as you are” covered dish
supper at a meeting held in the
home of Mrs. Charles Tindall Jr,
Peach Bottom RDI. Mrs. Harold
Graybeal and Mrs. James Long
served as cohostesses.
For the Society’s safety
program of the year, Jesse
Cutler, Drumore, spoke on the
background and services offered
by the Southern Lancaster
County Family Health Center
which opened on October 1. A
question and answer period was
held.
During the meeting the group

Mrs. Richard Risk will be in
charge of the display table at the
Homemaker’s Day to Ik? held
December 7 at the Farm and
Home Center. Mrs. Robert

Mre. Thomas Bradley will assist.
Hie Society will sponsor Miss
Linda Herr. Quarryville RD3, in
the Miss Solanoo Pageant.
Officers elected for the next
two years are Mrs. James Long,
vice president, and Mrs. Richard
Risk, treasurer Serving in office
is Mrs, J. Richards Wood,
president, and Mrs. Robert
Rohrer, secretary.
The Christmas party will be
held December 9 at Meadow Hills
Dining House with husbands as
guests. There will be a gift ex
change. Mrs. Park Ressel and
Mrs. William Arrowsmith will be
in charge.

Mrs. Lester Newcomer, sun
shine chairman, reported the
purchase of a birthday gift for
one of the three children at
Hamburg State Hospital who are
treated during the year by the
Society. Christmas gifts were
purchased for each of the three
children to be distributed on
Christmas Day.
Mrs. Newcomer, assisted by
Mrs. J. Clayton Charles and Mrs.
Robert Rohrer, reported on the
visit to Conestoga View in
November.
Plans were made to have a
display table at the Homemakers
Christmas Program at the Farm
and Home Center on December 7.
