Gretna with Mrs. Rufus Waltz as hostess and Mrs. Grace Hahn'as co-hostess. The devotions were in charge of Mrs. Elizabeth Shenk. The business meeting was conduct ed by the president Mrs. Marlin Hosier. It was decided to give a donation to the United Cam paign. Plans were made to sell turkey barbecue sandwiches at the Manheim Farm Show. Following the business meet ing a white elephant sale was held and also a flower ex change. Refreshments were served to 18 members and four visitors. The next meeting will be held Saturday, October 9 at the home of Mrs. Roy Shelly, Elm. 34 20 Farm Women Society 3 hiet recently at Schoeneck with Mrs. Earl Latshaw serving as hostess. Mrs. Paul Wike led devotions. Mrs. Robert Gregory president, conducted the business meeting. Mohler, past state president. They are Mrs. Reid Wissler and Mrs. Melvin Nolt. Plans for the food stand at the Ephrata Fair were finalized. A contribution of $2O was given for food for the Youth Nutrition Program. A bus trip will be taken to Williamsburg October 8 to 10. In addition to touring Williamsburg, other points of interest will in clude visiting the General Douglas McArthur Memorial at Norfolk and the Carter’s Grove Plantation. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Paul showed pictures of the western United States. Mrs. William Eberly presented safety tips for the home. A moment of silence was ob served followed by the reading of a poem by Mrs. Gregory as a tribute to Mrs. James Becker who passed away September 8. Society 21 Farm Women Society 21 met in the home of Mrs. Clair DeLong, Quarryvilie RDI. Mrs. Stanley Stauffer and Mrs. Leonard Sprout conducted a workshop on lampshade decorating. Co-hostesses were Mrs. William Cooper and Mrs. Grayson Cooper. Mrs. J. Richards Wood, president, was in charge of the meeting. Mrs. James Long was ap pointed to be in charge of the Society’s scrapbook. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 14 at the home of the home of Mrs. Melvin Meek, Willow Street. Mrs. John Ress, County president, will be special guest. Society 25 Farm Women Society 25 held their eighth anniversary banquet at the Highville Fire Hall with 21 members and their husbands present. Mrs. John Henderson, president, conducted a brief business meeting. On Friday evening, October 22, Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 25, VSfTI the Society will entertain patients at the Embreville State Hospital. Members will play Bingo with patients and refreshments will be served. Each member was asked to bring prizes for the Bingo games at the next meeting. Members were reminded that tickets are available to the public for the “Evening with Nan Wiley” on October 1 in the Centerville Junior High School auditorium. Tickets may be obtained by contacting Mrs. John Henderson, Lanacaster RD6. Mrs. John Metz, vice president, was selected as representative for the State Farm Woman contest. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Burkholder, Willow Street, RD2, who showed slides of their trip to Norway and Sweden. The next meeting will be Saturday, October 16 at the home of Mrs. Melvin Groff, Lancaster RD6. Program theme will be flower arrangements. Mrs. Kenneth Eshleman will be guest speaker and will demonstrate how to make flower arrangements. Consumer Is Workshop Topic “Consumer Concerns Today” will be one of the workshop topics at the Seminar, “Widening World of Women,” on October 19 and 20 in King of Prussia. “The consumer frequently experiences a communication gap between herself and the manufacturer. ,To help homemakers understand the inter-action between business, manufacturing, government and consumer, we are privileged to have several well known in dividuals on the program,” ac cording to Miss June Wilke, Chester County Extension home exonomist. Senator Edward Howard, Bucks County, will represent government; Fred Fortess, director consumer information and technical relations, Celanese Corporation, New York City, will represent American Appare’ Manufacturing Association. Representing business will be Mrs. Lucie Taylor, secretary, Better Business Bureau of Greater Philadelphia. Consumers will have an op portunity to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
