    Octorara FFA
Last Wednesday, August 25,
Gerald Metzler, John Hollinger
and Joey Underwood of the Oc
torara FFA Chapter took five
animals to the Southeastern Dis
trict FFA Dairy Show at the
Farm Show Building in Harris
burg.
They competed against FFA
members from the southeastern
Pennsylvania counties for a
chance to go to the State Junior
Dairy Show in September.
Underwood showed a Guernsey
intermediate heifer calf. He
placed second in bis class receiv
ing a red ribbon.
Hollinger showed 2 Ayrshires.
He received blue ribbons for
both his senior yearling and aged
cow, making him eligible to show
both animals at the state show.

Metzler received a red ribbon
for his senior calf and a blue for
his senior yearling Holstein. He
also won a master fitter award
and a master showman award.
His older animal is eligible for
the state show.
The boys - will conclude the
show season with the Cecil Coun
ty Fair at Fair Hill, Md., and the
Unionville Fair.
The members exhibiting at
either or both the Kimberton and
Goshen Fairs were Don Windle,
Joey Underwood, Randy Mills,
Robert Mills, Gerald Metzler and
John Hollinger. They showed as
many as 12 animals representing
three dairy breeds.

The Bergstrasse Busy Bees
4-H Club held a club fashion
show August 25 at the Berg
strasse Lutheran Church to end
the 1971 year.
The cooking club’s theme was
“Foods Around the World,”
featuring foods from different
countries.
The theme for the fashion
show was “4-H Goes Internation
al”
Awards and ribbons were
awarded to the members by Mrs
Grant C Smith.
