15 Earn Trips for Further Activity
Lancaster County FFA Members Take 21 Golds at Penn State
Local FFA members made an
unusually good showing Thurs
day in the annual FFA Activities
Week contests at Penn State Uni
versity.
The 94 Lancaster County FFA
members who entered contests
received 21 gold medals, 12
silver and 14 bronze.
In addition, six were awarded
trips to national contests at Kan
sas City, Mo., this fall; six to the
Eastern States Exposition at
Springfield, Mass, and three to
the Atlantic Rural Exposition at
Richmond, Va
The strong showing included

Judging
The annual Activities Week is
an educational event, attended
this year by 1,500 FFA membei s
from throughout Pennsylvania
Doug Rohrer, Manheim Central High School, is shown
using a drill press during the Agricultural Mechanics Skills
contest at Penn State this week. Rohrer placed first among 34
entries, earning a gold medal and a trip to Kansas City for the
national contest.

Land j’udging—Dave Aument,
Solanco High School, fouilh,
placed second and received a gold medal and
a trip to Kansas City as a team member, and
Paul Horning, Ephrata, who placed fourth
and was awarded a gold medal and a trip to
the Eastern States Exposition at Springfield,
Mass.

test during FFA Activities Week competition Thursday They
are Amos Saudcr, loft, and Tony HaJdcman Sander placed
first and Haldeman second, earning them gold medals and a
trip to Springfield, Mass , to compete in the Eastern Slates
Exposition.

Dairy Princess fiom New Pro
vidence RDI, competed this
week in the National Dairy
Princess contest at the Palmei
House, Chicago.
The contest was won by the
Minnesota entry, with Nebraska
claiming the runner-up spot,
Miss Krantz reported. She noted
she had fun and made lots of
friends from other states
Krantz left here Sunday and
returned Thursday morning

The schedule included bieak
fasl and,lunch each day with
the judges and the contestants

Marilyn got away with a
group of the contestants for
awhile Monday to see the Su
premes and participated m a
luau party Tuesday. Judging
was completed Wednesday,
along with reheaisal for the
coronation and the actual coro
nation Wednesday evening
