Through their in telligence, their labor and their very significant capital investments they are providing America with a major source of nutrients in a most delicious form. Think of it dairy foods contribute more than 13% of the food energy in the national diet, over 22% of the protein, more than 76% of the calcium and 36.8% of the phosphorus plus significant amounts of other essential minerals and vitamins. And, while milk is priced to the consumer on a per quart basis it still costs less than 14c per pound. Milk is a nutritional bargain. That it remains so is a major credit to the dairymen whose foresight, intelligence and downright hard work make this possible. Again ... we salute them!
