The recommendations on the July-December 1971 replacement hatch were made because, in order to avoid wide year-to-year swings in egg prices from Jan uary-June, the size of the re placement hatch during the preceding July-December period must be held within reasonable limits. The recommendations on the July-December 1971 laying flock and total egg productions were formulated because on balance, considering culling rate expec tations, it seems most likley that the January-June 1971 lay ing flock will continue slightly larger and lay at a higher rate than during the same period of 1970 PMG-18, which gives details of the recommendations, will soon be available fiom state and county Agricultural Extension Service offices in egg pioduc mg areas.
