ces in Pittsburgh.
A native of Dayton, he pre
pared for college at Dayton Vo
cational High School and earned
a bachelor of science degree in
horticulture tiom Penn State in
1950. He also received his
master of science degree in agri
cultural economics from Penn-
State
Prior to his appointment to
the Penn State staff, he was em
ployed as a marketing specialist
by the Agricultural Marketing
Service, U. S Department of
Agriculture for six years
