Keystone Farmer Degree Going To 16 Local Boys Honors which cannot go to more than one farm boy in fifty will be awarded to 16 Lancaster County FFA students from sev en county high schools next week in conjunction with the 54th Pennsylvania State Farm Show to be held in Harrisburg. In ceremonies in the Forum of the Education Building Wednes day afternoon in downtown Harrisburg, the highest FFA de gree at the state level, the Key stone Farmer title, will be awarded for outstanding achievement in agriculture ahd rural life. The schools involved include Garden Spot, Ephrata, Manheim Cential, Lampetei- Strasburg, .tolanco, Penn Manoi and Pequea Valley. Henry Givler, Area FFA Ag ricultoral Supei visor, reported that under FFA rules, not more than two peicent of the State membership can icceive this honor. The title is given for outstanding achievement in aguculture and rural life To be eligible, Givler said the FFA member must have satisfacton ly completed at least two years of instruction in vocational ag riculture, demonstrated marked leadership, earned and invested at least $5OO productively, and attained satisfactory achieve ment in improving the farm’s efficiency or his home farm’s comfort.
