Pennsylvania dairymen aie
facing the decision of how to
vote in a December milk mar
keting referendum Four educa
tional meetings have been held
throughout Lancaster County
during the past week to explain
the proposed program to all
milk producers The plan is for
a deduction of one-half of one
percent of the gross milk check
after hauling costs are off; these
funds are to be used to promote
milk in this part of the country.
The referendum requires that
approval will be obtained if at
least two-thirds of those voting
favor the plan providing these
producers represent at least 50%
of the milk from those voting.
If the plan is approved, all milk
producers in the state will be
compelled to make the deduc
tion. The important suggestion
is that all dairymen become ac
quainted with all phases of the
program and then vote in the
referendum when the ballot is
received by mail early in Decem
ber.
