Rodent 'Problems
The rodent problem on trees
and shrubs is present In many
places and we have already no
ticed rabbit damage to some
plants. With continued snow
cover this damage could get
much worse and some shrubs
may be damaged beyond recov
ery. Owners are urged to place
aluminum foil, hardware cloth,
or chicken wire around these
plants to prevent serious injury.
The material should be put at
least two feet high to give pro
tection after a heavy snowfall.
We are aware of some liquid ma
terials that can be sprayed on
the trunks of trees and shrubs
but due to the need of frequent
spraying and uncertain results,
the mechanical protection is rec
ommended.
A new milk production record
for October was set last month
when Pennsylvania farms pro
duced nearly 272 million quarts.
The State Crop Reporting
Service reports the record
breaking October production
topped the October 1968 produc
tion by more than 8 million
quarts.
Average production per cow
amounted to 374 quarts compar
ed to 363 quarts in October
1969.
Cow numbers in October were
estimated at 725,000, up 1,000
from September’s estimate but
1,000 less than in October 1968
Hillary’s Feats
Sir Edmund Hillary, known
chiefly for making the first as
cent of Mt Everest, was also
the first man to reach the South
Pole overland since Capt. Robert
F. Scott accomplished the feat
in 1912.

Farm leases and partnerships
should be in writing and should
be reviewed at least once each
year. The time of the year is
approaching when many farm
agreements will be made and in
terested parties are urged to
make these in a businesslike
manner. When the details of the
agreement have been reached,
they should be put in writing
and all parties receive a copy.
When the lease is reviewed or
renewed each year it reminds
the partners of their obligations
and gives a chance for both par
ties to see if the lease is doing
its intended job. When the part
nership arrangements are in
writing, there is less change of
misunderstanding and dissatis
faction.
Evacuation’s Extent

God created us with infinite
potential to be a self-moti

looking beyond the mists of
doubts, fears, and anxieties,
we will 'find new and miracu

Minimize the appearance of
