Most people think of leaves, weeds, gieens and a few twigs when they think of fall anange ment, says Dr Francis R Gouin But many of the floweiing sum mer annuals make delightful ad ditions if they aie dried propei- Some of the common ones that dry well are cockscomb, coial bells, daisies, delphiniums, gomds, hollyhocks, larksspur, marigolds, stiawfloweis, sunburst dahlia and zinnia. To diy these flowers, pick them just befoie they reach their flow ering peak Strip the foilage from the stem without damaging the flowers (If the stem is moie than % of an inch thick, ciush it with a rolling pin or wooden mallets ) Tie the stems of the flowers in a loose bunch and hang in a shaded place until they are dry Air movement will help drying if it is not too strong a draft, but -do not hang the flowers in the sunlight or the color will bleach out Decorate note paper. Delicate flowers can add a per sonal touch to your note paper with very little difficulty, Dr. Gouin adds. Simply select delicate flowers, florets, leaves or leaflets and lay as flat as possible on a double layer of tissue paper or paper towel Place the paper and flow ers between the pages of a heavy book and allow two weeks for the material to dry When the plant mateiial is perfectly dry, position it careful ly on the note paper, cover it with rice paper and paint liberal ly with a mixture of one part oasme glue and one pait water Allow the paper to diy 24 houis before using • Facts (Continued from Page 13) ated fiom the milking herd When the new system is on the di awing board, considei segi ega tion by production units within the herd One woid of caution do not make the units much less than 50 cows per group Labor efficiency must also be a consid eration DEIITZ the famous DEUTZ Air-Cooled diesel engine Outperforms any water-cooled diesel engine Options include all the late; Four-wheel drive available CALL US FOR FREE FIELD DEMONSTRA STAUFFER DIESEL, INC. 31iW.
