The Scholarship Committee
with Mrs. Robert Gregory as
chairman presented the $200.00
scholarship award to Jay Smok
er. He will be going to Penn
State and major in animal hus
bandry. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Smoker. Jay is a
graduate of the 1969 Ephrata
Union High School. Mrs Smok
er is a member of Society 3.
The annual picnic July 20, at
Walter’s Park pavilion was out
lined. Also future bus trips to
the shore, Aug. 23; to New York
State, taking in West Point,
Hyde Park, Vanderbilt Mansion,
and other points, returning by
way of the Poconos, Oct 4-5.
There was a donation of $25
to the Conestoga Valley Assn,
towards cleaning the Conestoga
River.

MICHAEL HUBLER, Hummelstown R 2, started work
this week as a summer student with the Lancaster County
Soil and Water Conservation Service. A graduate of Lower
Dauphin High School, Michael had poultry projects in FFA
and is now a senior at Penn State majoring in Animal
Industry,
In 1968 Hubler served with the Dauphin County Soil and
Water Conservation Service and now will further his ex
perience in all phases of conservation work with the local
