Sportsmen
Re-organize
In Lititz
After a year of re-organiza
tion, the Lititz Sportsmen’s As
sociation is back in full opera
tion. And to prove the fact, they
will be holding their annual Ox-
Roast, a Lititz tradition since
the mid-1930’5, on Thursday.
March 28 at the Lititz Commun
ity Center.
High-lighting this year’s pro
gram will be a presentation by
big game hunter, George Yocum
Jr., of Reading. Yocum, who is
a factory sales respesentative
for W. R. Weaver Co., makers
of Weaver gun scopes, has hunt
ed in Africa, Alaska, Canada,
Mexiso and most of the United
States. On his most recent sa
fari to Tanzanea Province, Afri
ca, he bagged the infamous “Big
Five”, which means Lion, Cape
Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard and
Rhinoceros.
An amateur photographer and
avid sportsman, Yocum will
show home movies of his last
African trip, complete with per
sonal commentary.
The meal will be served at
6:30 p.m., and the program,
which is to include door-prizes
valued at more than $3OO, will
begin immediately after the
meal. An event for members of
the association, the officers will
have memberships for sale at
the door. Cost of membership is
$2.00 and the meal is priced at
one dollar.
Local and statewide conserva
tion and sporting officials along
with local contributors to the
sportsmanship programs of the
association will be honored
guests at the event.
Association president, Philip
McCloud, stated that “we are
now building the size and re
sponsibilities of the Lititz Sports
men, and we invite all sport
minded citizens, and for the first
time this will include the sports
woman.”
