TOBACCO
A smaller than usual tobacco
show was evident at the New
Holland Fair this year, due
largely to the hail damage in
the New Holland district In
fact, chairman Larry Weaver
said only two lath were from
the home area.
However, Pams Gruber and
Richard Chai'les from Bayuk
Cigars, Inc, Lancaster, who
judged the tobacco show, said
the tobacco that was shown
was very fine Of the county
tobacco conditions in general,
Gruber said, “On the whole,
we have had a good curing
year and definitely a better
growing year than for awhile.”
The judges placed the grand
championship on the wrapper
type lath of Richard Beaman,
2554 Creek Hill Road, Lancas
ter The filler first place award
went to Harold Leaman, same
address.
