TOBACCO A smaller than usual tobacco show was evident at the New Holland Fair this year, due largely to the hail damage in the New Holland district In fact, chairman Larry Weaver said only two lath were from the home area. However, Pams Gruber and Richard Chai'les from Bayuk Cigars, Inc, Lancaster, who judged the tobacco show, said the tobacco that was shown was very fine Of the county tobacco conditions in general, Gruber said, “On the whole, we have had a good curing year and definitely a better growing year than for awhile.” The judges placed the grand championship on the wrapper type lath of Richard Beaman, 2554 Creek Hill Road, Lancas ter The filler first place award went to Harold Leaman, same address.
