Boler Attachment Color Marks Bales j For Identification A baler attachment that marks hay or straw bales for easy identification has just been patented by New Holland Division of Sperry Rand Cor poration. The device sprays col ored liquid on the wire twists that hold bales together. It was invented to stop pilferage, especially where big-scale growers leave hundreds of tons stacked toy the roadsides The attachment Is designed to fit light on the bale cham ber and doesn’t interfere with normal baler operation. It can apply up to three different colors, making possible a large number of combinations. There’s no danger to live stock, because the marking colors are completely edible Branded bales would scare away most highwaymen. But even if they are stolen, bales are readily identified because each grower can select his own distinctive color code. New Holland’s marketing plans for the baler brander at tachment are still incomplete.
