• Plowing Contest

Among other field day events
listed by Stauffer were: fish
shocking demonstration by fish
commission members; a 4-H
tractor driving contest; a land
judging contest supervised by
the county vo-ag teachers; and
wagon tours of waterways and
terraces on the neighboring
Stauffer farm. The main field
day events will be held on the
Louis Hurst farm which ad
joins both Stauffer’s and the
plowing contest site.
The Lancaster County
Dairy Princess, Anna Mae
Donough, will be on hand,
Stauffer said, to present the
various awards, trophies, and
door prizes.
In other business at the di
rectors meeting, ten conserva
tion agreements totaling 787
acres were approved. Also ap
proved were two agreements
to draft soil survey interpreta
tion maps for East Lampeter
and Little Britain townships.
• Poultry Tour

The tour is expected back in
Lancaster by 5 p.m.
Reservations must be in by
July 26, Oberholtzer notes, and
can be arranged by contacting
him at 171 Newport Rd., Leola.
The bus fare will be $1.25. In
recent years, the tour has filled
between two and four buses.
Oberholtzer urges all those
interested in joining the tour
August Ist to “Go by bus and
visit with your fellow poultry
men”. Most tour groups have
been requested to discourage
individual cars following along
because of the parking and
traffic hazards involved.
