Red Meal Production
Down For 6th Month
In Pennsylvania -
Red meat production in the
state declined In September,
the sixth consecutive month
in which output was lower
than In the corresponding
month of 1901, according to
the Pennsylvania Crop Re
porting Service. 1
The September total, 84.-
384,000 pounds, was S per
cent higher than in the previ
ous mouth, but 4 percent less
than in September last year.
Pork production was up 3 per
cent trom a year earlier, the
only category to show an in
crease. Beet was down 9 per
cent; veal down 5 percent,
and lamb and mutton down
9 percent.
The last increase in red
meat production in Pennsyl
vania was recorded last March
when the total was 13 percent
higher than in March 1904.
Since the first of the year,
meat production in Pennsvyl
vania totaled approximately 6
percent less than in the first
nine months last year.
January-September meat
production in the United
States totaled 22,750 million
pounds. 2 percent less than
in the corresponding period
last year.
