DeKalb Fetes Members
Of "300-Egg Club"
DeKalb Agricultural Asso
ciation, Inc. entertained mem
bers of their 1964, “300-Egg
Club” at a meeting in Wash
ington, D. C., last week.
The top-producing club mem
ber was Scyphers Poultry Farm
from Holston, Virginia. Their
6000-bird flock averaged 273
eggs per pullet housed duiing

The 300 Egg Club was start
ed in Januaiy 1963 by the De-
Kalb company Its purpose is
to provide recognition for top
egg producers, encourage ac
curate record keeping, and
promote efficient egg produc
tion practices.
The 300-egg mark was
chosen because the Associa
tion believed that today’s bet
ter-bred birds have the gene
tic capability of achieving and
surpassing the goal They stress
that sound management of the
growing pullet and the layer
are the keys to realizing this
potential.
At the awards program, the
members heard Penn State Ex
tension Poultryman Dr. Floyd
Hicks discuss the subject of
profitable egg production. The
day’s activities concluded with
a trip to the ball park to see
the Senators play Detroit,
