Demand was only fair for very light auction of ferings. Prices were on the high side of the range for ex tended pick-up dates. Ready-to-cook demand was spotty, ranging from slow to fair in instances where retail feature activity was a factor. Delivered prices ranged % cent lower, mostly 14 cent low er, and very competitive. Estimated slaughter for Fri day and Saturday, 831,000 head compared to 723,000 last week. Prices paid and reported pur chases for the 24-hour period ending 10:30 am. Friday: 143- 14.9; 788,700 head, including 363,600 purchased of 373,400 offered, at Eastern Poultry Growers Exchange Thursday. Twenty-seven per cent of the sales were at 14.5-14.9. The Delmarva Broiler-Feed Ratio for the week ending 10/23/64 was 3.2. This was the same as the preceding week. , Mash ' price averaged $192.34-perton, and broilers averaged 16.18 cents per pound. _ed r ,at-3.6“trillion bushels -were the-* lowest in 21 years, according to the Pennsylvania Crop Service. Total stocks, of 4.5 million bushels, - including supplies held in off-fanp storage, are 14 per'ceift less than last-year and the lowest since 1948. - The Crop Reporting Serv ice said the sharp drop re sulted from the 1963 drought. Amounts in storage do not in clude any of this year’s crop that also was hit by drought. Oat stocks of 22.3 million bushels were 24 per cent less than a year ago when Penn sylvania had a record-breaking yield of this crop. Wheat in storage totals 149 bushels, highest since October 1955.
