Weekly Broiler Report placement* of chicks for commercial broiler production by State hatchery men totaled 780.000 during the week end ing September 19, according to the Pennsylvania Crop Re porting Service. This was an increase of 1 per cent over the previous week but the same as a year ago. The 10- week total was 15 per cent above a year earlier. Settings totaling 1,071,000 eggs for commercial broiler production were 8 per cent below both a week ago and the compar able period last year. The 3- week total was down 1 per cent from the previous year. Inshipments of broiler-type chicks the past 10 weeks to taled 796,000 or 38 per cent above the comparable period a year ago. Outshipments of 1.309.000 were down 7 per cent. Placements in the major producing states totaled 35,- 145,000 chicks, down 2 per cent from a week earlier but 2 per cent above a year ago.
