4 tablespoons cocoa
J /2 cup milk
2Vz cups quick Motheis Oats
2 tablespoons peanut butter
Vz cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix sugai, margarine, cocoa
and milk, boil hard for 1%
minutes Remove from beat
and add the oats, butter, nuts
and vanilla Beat by hand
about 2 minutes (Drop by ta
blespoons on sheet of waxed
paper immediately and let
■cool Makes about 30 cookies.

Eaily in the spiing the children in the
kindeigaiten sections of the Fulton Elemen
tary School in southern Lancastei County
are asked to bring in a recipe of one of
the favonte foods their mother makes for
them Their teacher, Mrs. Marlene Eckman,
then compiles these recipes into a cook
book The cookbooks are presented to their
motheis at a party held close to Mother’s
Day In paging through this cookbook one
thing is quite apparent- times may change,
but children do not they love sweets.
We do not have room here for all the re
cipes so we have picked some at random to
shaie with you We hope you’ll enjoy them
too. The mother’s name accompanies each

'Sift together the flour, soda,
cocoa, salt and sugar. Add the
water, miracle whip and vanil
la Bake layer cake at 350 de
grees for 25-30 minutes, loaf
cake for 1 hour.
PEACH MERINGUE CAKE

1 cup flour
IVz teaspoons double acting
baking powder
Vz teaspoon salt
Vz cup sugar
3 egg yolks
Vz cup top milk
V* cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
6-9 canned peach halves
All ingredients must be at
room temperature 'Line 9x9x2-

Sift together dry ingredients
and add remaining cake in

To make meringue, beat 3
egg whites with Vz teaspoon

3 eggs
1 cup strawberry preserves
3 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Vz teaspoon cloves
Vz teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup raisins
1 cup pecans
1 cup cold coffee
I level teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon extract
Cream together the sugar
and butter. Add eggs; beat in
strawberry preserves. Mix flour
and spices. Use small amount
of flour mixture on raisins and
pecans Add flour mixture to
creamed mixture Add raisins
and pecans. Lastly add cold cof
fee with the soda stirred into
it. Add flavorings. Grease a
tube pan, cut a piece of waxed
paper for bottom, and grease
that Pour batter in and thump
to get out air. Bake IVz hours
