IANCASTER POULTRY CENTER Broiler Prices Ease Live broiler prices ranged 16 0 to 19.0 for a sale aver age of 16.39 at the Lancaster Poultry Center this week as 37,700 head in 11 lots were sold. The January 16 average was down more than a cent from the previous week, but was more than a cent above the comparable sale a year earlier. Three lots of heavy fowl including 4,850 birds brought 18-18.5. A lot ot 500 roasters sold for 22, and a lot of 6,000 leghorn fowl changed hands at 9 cents a pound. All birds on offer were sold. Reported pur chases were 904,100 head in cluding 42'2,600 offered and sold at Thursday’s auction in Selbyville, Del. Demand was fair for the moderate offerings. Ready to cook demand was mostly fair with prices mostly a half cent lower as processors attempted to spur purchases. Estimated slaughter by east ern shore processors for the week end was 877,000 head compared to the 844,000 head last week end. The Delmarva broiler-feed ratio for the week ending Jan uary 10 was up four points at 3.2.
