The biggest wins came in the_ steer show where Eugene Hosier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hosier Manheim R 3, showed his steer “Champy" to the grand championship of the junior show and wen on to garner the reserve champion ship in the open class compe tition. Mae Mast, Elverson R 2, pla ced her Hereford in the run nerup spot of the junior divi sion of the show, hut was eli minated in the final round when judge Don L. The Inter-State Cooperative has more than -4,000 dairy farmer members, divided into 2-3 Districts, which in turn are subdivided into 97 Locals. Judge Good, a Kansas State University professor, said the Hosier Angns had better cov ering than the champion, but he lacked thickness in the lower quarters. The steer was bred by Neidig Brothers, State College. In the junior show, a sec ond member of the Mast fam ily, Wesley, showed the re serve champion Hereford. The yearling ewe entered by Green Meadows was shown by Edward Hess, She was sired by the farm’s 1957 grand champion at the International Livestock Show in Chicago. (Continued on Page 13) Penna. Y.F.A. Convention Is Next Week The six regions of Pennsyl vania will name their outstand ing young farmers November 20 during the annual conven tion of the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association at The Pennsylvania State University. Headquarters will be the Het zel Union Building on the cam pus. Trophies for the six region al winners and the outstand ing young farmer of the State will be presented by James C. Fink, associate advisor from the Department of Public In struction, Harrisburg. Convention speaker will be Leland H. Bull, Secretary of Agriculture for the Common wealth of Pennsylvania. Afternoon panel and discus sion groups will be led by various chapters. Manheim and New Holland chapters will toe responsible for discussions of “Marketing.” The Young Farmers Asso ciation will display its official and newly-developed banner at the convention.
