4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon 'soda
2 % teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
% cup milk

% cup sugar
% cup shortening
2 tablespoons water
1 6-ounce package semi
sweet chocolate pieces
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
% cup sifted flour
Vz teaspoon salt
U teaspoon baking soda
% cup coarsely chopped nuts
Combine sugar, shortening
and water; bring just to boil,
stirring constantly. Remove
from heat. Add chocolate and
vanilla; stir till chocolate melts
and is smooth. Beat in eggs
one at a time. Sift together
flour, salt and baking soda;
blend into chocolate mixture.
Stir in nuts. Spread in greased
9-inch square pan. Bake for 25
minutes in a 325 degree oven.
Cool, Cut in squares.
