Red Rose Farmer Degrees Given Forty Nine Boys By County FFA Forty-njne blue jacketed Future Farmers of America were elected to receive the Red Rose Farmer degree at a meet ing of the County FFA Monday night at Elizabethtown. The degree, highest awarded by the county association, - " is considered a step toward the coveted Keystone Farmer de gree awarded each year in January. Degrees will be con ferred at the November Coun ty meeting. The Grasslands Chapter with 10 successful applicants had more than any other chapter in the county. Star Farmer of the county was Harold Brubaker, son of Mr. and Mrs Paul Brubaker, Mount Joy Rl. Brubaker was also named vice president of the county association at the same meeting. (Continued on Page 13) Second Year 4-H Member Wins Lampeter Beef Show Eleven-year-old Myron Lan dis, Strasburg Rl, showed a blocky, 900 pound Angus to the grand championship in the West Lampeter Community Fair beef Show Wednesday night. Joey, the Angus, bred by Kmloch Farms, Supply, Vir ginia, was the second steer fed by Myron for 4-H competition. Two other children of Mr and Mrs. Myron Landis, Sr., figured in the placings at the show. Mary Lou showed the champion Hereford and Frieda’s steer Second Consecutive Win For Mast At Ephrata Fair Nineteen year old Wesley Mast, Elierson R2, made it two-m-a-row Thursday night at the Ephrata Fair when his 925 pound Angus steer wadd led away with the purple rosette Wesley, the son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Mast, who turned the trick last year with a Frey Holstein Is Champion In Lampeter Fair Dairy Show Fultonway Rachel Ann, a five-> ear-old Holstein cow ex hibited by J. Mowery Frey, Jr, 101 Beaver Valley Pike, won the breed championship Thursday afternoon at the West Hampeter Community Fair. 'Rachel Ann, the daughter of Frey’s excellent Rachel cow, is now milking over 22,000 pounds of milk and nearly 800 pounds of fat. She was grand champion at the Southeastern (Pennsylvania Artificial Breed ers Cooperative show as a two year-old and a four-year-old. The junior champion and re serve grand champion was the senior yearling exhibited by Robert Kauffman, Elizabeth town Rl. Roy iBreneman, Willow Street Rl, had the top Guern sey, a senior yearling, exhibi ted Thursday by Arthur Bren eman. The reserve champion (Guernsey was Melvin Brene man’s aged cow. Marian J.
