Tuesday, July 16 We headed for Bryce Can yon, and drove into Red Can yon at 5 30 Total miles to now - 7,345 1 July 17 We toured the Bryce Na tional Park all morning In the afternoon we visited the Zion National Park The canyons were very beautiful The rest of the day was spent travel ling toward Grand Canyon, Arizona We made it by night, camped with a group of FFA boys from Minnesota. Saw the Glenn Canyon Dam, 700 ft. high. July 18 Toured the Grand Canyon and then headed for Hoover Dam. The temperature was 130 degrees so we decided to go swimming. Stopped at Willow Beach, 13 miles below Hoover Dam. The temperature of the water was 52 degrees. It came directly from the bottom of the Dam. July 19 Visited the Hoover Dam and afterward went swimming at Lake Meade. After supper we headed for Las Vegas, made It by 11:00 July 20 After seeing Las Vegas, we drove the rest of the night over the desert, came to Upland California. Our second mail stop at 10 00 Met the Donegal FFA boys today July 21 Went to church at the Bre thren in Christ Church in Up land Calif The Donegal fellows went with us Swam in the af ternoon and attended a ball game in the evening July 22 We started out for Long Beach California where we stayed at a schoolmates place We toured Disneyland in t h e evening July 23 Toured the Kottsbeny farm, Ghost town, and in the after noon we went swimming at Huntington Beach The waves were enormous We saw a hall game in the Dodgei Stadium in Los Angeles, Caliiarnia be tween the Dodgei s and Pirates 8787 7 miles Garden Spot 4-H Ai Tenn State iib Congress By: Barbara Schreibcr, Reporter The Garden Spot 4-H Sew ing Club of New Holland was represented this summer at the State 4-H Club Congress at Penn State University by Judy Mentzer and Elaine Overly Sharynanne Schreiber was a part of Club 30-30 Approximately twenty - five girls from the club attended county-wido 4-H Field Day. On Monday, July 22, during their regular weekly meeting, the club saw a film about good health habits Plenty of rest, good diet, exercise, and good posture were stressed The Garden Spot Club held a fashion show for parents and friends on August 6, and on August 8 went to county wide Round-Up at Penn Manor High School. Seven of the members were entered in Dress Revue. The club is indebted to Mr Ivan Nolt at Farmersville Equip ment Co., Mr. Leininger at Churchtown, and the Ladies Sewing Circle of the Mennon ite Church for the loan of two sewing machines apiece for the summer: to the New Holland Fire Co. for several tables, and Mr. Bishop of Lancaster for five sewing machines. Several mothers' of members also al lowed the club to use machines, irons, and., ironing boards. 5
