the fourth stomach to go back in place. With a rope
around the cow-s neck, back between her fore legs,
crossed over her back and drawn back between her
hind legs, the -cow can be thrown easily and without
fuss. A simple massage of her abdomen will usually
return the fourth stomach (the abomasum) to its

inary medicine curriculum at
the University of Pennsylvania
in 1952 and came back to his
home area to practice.
Within a few yeais his prac
tice had grown so large that

three veterinarians in Dr Mc-
Mullen’s home about 8 a.m.
and the first sound I heard
was the ringing of the tele
phone From then until we
left at about S 30 the tele
phone kept up an almost con
tinual hanangue. The calls
were divided up in areas with
one doctor taking all the cases
in one direction from'the boro.

W ay after scrubbing our
boots with a disinfectant solu
tion.
The long drive to the farm
of Marvin Horst, Peach Bot
tom R 2, gave us a' chance to
talk about mutual friends,
horses, and some of the pro
blems of the veterinarian.
Dr. McMullen said ills of
the dairy cow make up over
90 per cent of his practice. He
treats a few herds of hogs,
and a few pleasure horses,
but he and his associates have,
thus far, stajed away from,
