Soil Conservation District Directors List 1962 Activities Activities of the Lancaster County Sbil Conseivation Dis trict were varied and numer ous during 1962 The following list of activities was prepared by Henry E Grvler, secretary of the district 1. The outstanding Conserva tion Fanner was Abram Zeiset, Hew Holland HI. 2. A total of 257 attended the Annual Banquet at Quarry- Tine 3. During May Soil Steward ship was observed Seven pap ers carried Stewardship articl es, and several of the rural Churches used Soil Stewardship materials. 4. A tour of County Farms was held for the County Com missioners 5. Director and Chan man Amos Funk seized as State Vi ce President 6. Duector and Chau man Amos Funk has been elected President of the State Associa tion for the coming year 7. The 3id Annual Plowing Contest was sponsoied by the District on the Roy Gaiber faun. There weie 10 contest- ants and approximately 250 sp ectators J. Everett JKreider, Quarryville R D No 1 was the County winner and was spon sored by the distnct in the Sta te Contest 8. The District also started a rotating 'Plowman trophy (which must be won three tim es for permanent possession) S The 3rd Annual Field Day was held on the farm of Gerald Darlington, Lititz R D No. 2. 10 Four Watershed Meet ings were held at Bambndges Farmersville, Paradise, and Manheim 11 A district representative attended meetings and partici pated m the programs of the Lancaster County Agncultuie Council. 1 2 The district continues to tie p sponsor the Silt Sampling Station on the Conestoga Creek. 13 District sponsored seven Television programs 14 The district provided a plaque to the FF A boy who won the (Land Use and Manage ment Contest in the County. 15.
