A grower broke bis yield barrier in field corn production last year when he produced 251 bushels per acre. His high yield resulted from higher plant population and feeding the plants a special combination »of Ortho fertilizers. He netted $196 per acre after paying his plant food investment. Compare his fertilization experience with your own. His pre vious feeding program called for application of 200 pounds of nitrogen, 60 pounds of phosphate and 40 pounds of potassium to the acre. These were applied in solution form. With rows spaced at 38 inches apart the farm produced 138 bushels per acre for a net return of $lO9 after costs. This yield barrier was broken when he switched to 22 inch row spacing and this new .fertilization program: 317 pounds of N, 162 pounds of phosphate and 112 pounds of potassium per acre in the form of Ortho 14-14-14, Ortho 20-10-0 and Ortho Ammonium Sulfate. Instead of 20,000 plants, he now earned 34,500 plants per acre with his stepped-up fertiliza tion program. Each acre then produced 251 bushels. Despite the higher investment in fertilizer, he earned an extra $B7 per acre under the Ortho “break the yield barrier” program. Now let’s get together and break your yield record—increase your field corn Our Ortho program will be tailored £ to your soil and growing conditions. P. L. ROHRER & BRO., INC.
