Heat shortening to 365 de grees. Crush cranberries slightly with a tablespoon. Stir in 3 tablespoons sugar and set aside. Combine egg and mi k. Sift together flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add to liquid ingredients. Beat to form a smooth bat ter. Stir in 1 tablespoon of melted shortening. Gently fold in crushed cranberries. Drop batter irom a table- CURRENT DIVIDEND PER ANNUM Paid On Savings spoon into hot shortening. Fry 3to minutes, or until golden' brown. Drain well. Roll in granulated sugar. Serve atop pineapple s ices. Place a cranberry on end of wooden pick and insert on top of each fritter. Note; If resired, pineapple si ces may be heated in syrup before serving. SPICED CRANBERRY RELISH 3 cups fresh cranberries, chopped fa cup water IVi cups sugar Vz cup finely chopped celery Vz teaspoon cinnamon Mix all ingredients togeth er, simmer 10 tp -15 minutes. Serve hot or cold with ham. Let chill until slightly thickened. Stir in cranberry sauce, ce’ery and walnuts. Fold in sour cream. Pour in to 1-quart mold and chill un til firm. Makes 4 to 6 serv ings. ♦ * * CRANBERRY WALDORF MOLDS 1 pint (2 cuos) cranberry juice cocktail 1 package lemon-flavored dissolved Cool until slightly gelatin thickened.
