Kretlow NEW HOLLAND ELgin 4-235 J \\\»l//// -W % Restricted Feeding of Replacement by RALPH C. HOLDER, Nutritionist We hear a great deal about restricted feednij programs. All growing pullets, including light medium, and heavy strains, must be restricted The question is how much restriction is nec essary and how can it best be accomplished We have by experience a ready answer. Because oats are one-third fiber, which is not digestible by poultry, increasing the amount ol oats in the ration reduced the rate of growth aim deposition of fat Feeding 50% oats with Early Bird Growing Mash in confinement or 6G% on range most dcfin itely restricts the growth of pullets, such that they are in PROPER CONDITION when put ® the laying house. NOTE: Early Bird All Mash Developei s similar in nutrition value to a ration of 60% oafs and 40%j Early Bird Growing Mash. OVER restriction results in UNDER develrt? ed birds that must complete their growth latei u the laying house. As above 19 pounds of total feed i’ adequate to grow a Leghorn pullet. If EXCESS IVE AMOUNTS of indigestible fibrous materials are incorporated in a growing ration, feed rf quir ements are greatly increased and increase! production costs defeat such a program.
