history, the Stale Department of
Agriculture reports.

Of Omnibus Bill

erican Farm Bureau Federation
today lauded the action of the
House in rejecting the omnibus
farm bill that has been submitted
by the House agriculture commit
tee
“I am happy that the House re
jected consideration of the omni
bus bill as it would have hurt ra
ther than helped farmers msthe
long run,” the Federation presi
dent said
“What we need is a long-term
program designed to free farmers
from government regulation. The
omnibus bill went in the opposite
direction It offered farmers more
quotas, more taxes, and more gov
ernment regulation. That is why
we rged the bill’s recommittal to
the House agriculture committee.
