In 1948 people'ln this country were spending 6 6 per cent of their disposable income for beef, pork, veal and lamb. In the same year, per capita consumption of meat amounted to 145 5 pounds In 1957, each person ate an aver age of 159 pounds of meat, for which they spent only 51 per cent of their disposable income.
