Warren Lininger, R 2, Den ver, won the championships in both boars and sows of the Spot ted Poland Ohma breed at the Pennsylvania Livestock Exposi tion. Slippery Rock, Butler County, Pa, won the championship m sows of the Berkshire breed. In boars, the Berkshire cham pionship went to C R Galbreath & Sons, Street, Md, while the re serve title went to Harold H. Yakc & Son, Caidington, 0 Arthur Jordan, Ohio State Uni versity, was judge. Yake and Sons, Cardington, Ohio, Showed the re Dad Baljy-sat, Mom Showed Sheep at H-herg The days of the old western frontier moved eastward last week when two Illinois women rode with their sheep in a small pick-up truck 800 miles to exhibit in the State Farm Show Building. In making the show trip as ex hibitors, usualy reserved for their husbands, the women left their husbands at home to take care of the 10 children in their two fam ilies. According to Mrs J. D Allen of the Willobee Farms, Libertyvile, 111, she and Mrs Floyd Gustafson are exhibiting for the first time ‘ and we don’t have any family eyes watching ” Mrs. Allen, whose husband is a vocational agriculture teacher in Lake Zurich, outside Chicago, has four children and Mrs. Gustafson has six youngsters. “Our husbands have been ex hibiting for years and now our youngsters have gotten the fever of the show ring,” Mrs Gustafson said. She explained the Pennsyl vania show has given her confi dence to exhibit at future exposi tions. Mrs. Gustafson received a first place award for her Oxford mar ket wether lamb. She also had two third and two fifth place awards with Soathdowns. Mrs. Al len showed Hampshire sheep and won a sixth and an eighth place ribbon. FOR . GER tow . ... Treated Fence Posts Last Four Decades Split red cedar fence posts, treated by soaking them in hot and cold baths of gas-tar cresote and set in the ground in 1917 are still m good condition, according to a recent report from Colorado State University.
